A simple Semia( vermicelli) Uppama that my father loves so!
Ingredients
- semia/vermicelli - 2 cup
- sour curds - 2 tbsp
- oil - 1- 1 1/2 tbsp
- mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
- split urad dal - 1/2 tsp
- chana dal - 1/4 tsp
- dry red chillies - 2, broken into bits
- some curry leaves
- salt to taste ( 1/2 tsp )
- boiling water - 1 1/2 cups
Method
- Heat the oil in a kadhai. Add mustard seeds & wait for it to splutter. Add the urad dal, chana dal, red chilli bits & the curry leaves. Fry until the dals start turning golden.
- Now add the semia ( vermicelli) & fry for a couple of minutes on low flame, stirring constantly until the semia starts turning golden at the edges.
- Immediately add the hot water, curds & salt. Cook on medium flame until the water is all absobed & the semia is cooked.
- Serve piping hot , topped with bit of asli ghee.
- Tastes wonderful !
